Covenant College The Complete Series (Audible Audio Edition) Amanda M Lee Angel Clark Books
Okay I have to be honest here and say the first book starts out slow, very slow. BUT, you'll be rewarded if you keep reading. The snarky comments from Zoe the main character are gold. Some reviews don't like her, but I found myself practically falling out of my chair with laughter. If you're into sex, it's not in here. It's implied but not described which is good as far as I'm concerned. I really liked this series. I bought it when it was on sale, not sure I would've otherwise, and I don't recall what I paid for it. All in all I found myself really liking Zoe. She uses sarcasm as a defense, which I don't think some people who reviewed this series got. Imagine yourself in her shoes, and perhaps you might find yourself being a bit sarcastic too. Some of the drama was juvenile sure, but hey these are college kids. This is what goes on with that age group. As an older woman, I actually found the series refreshing. I recall some of that drama and wish I'd had some of the killer remarks that Amanda Lee comes up with for Zoe. We also see her vulnerable, scared, heartbroken, and unsure of herself, as well as as downright nasty to those who really, let's face it, kind of deserve it. I am not normally a fan of paranormal books, but I liked these. Shades of Buffy, Twilight, and other books come to mind, but these were unique. I recommend them.Product details

Covenant College The Complete Series (Audible Audio Edition) Amanda M Lee Angel Clark Books Reviews
Are we sure Amanda M. Lee wrote this? Not her usual style at all. One of her strengths is the wonderful characters she creates. The other series were quite enjoyable. Avery Shaw took some getting use to, but she did get better. This main character is a horror show. She isn't just mean, she is hateful and selfish and cruel. It made reading the series a real challenge. The last book was the best one and the character did soften a bit, but too little, too late. Additionally, she has never maliciously derided another author as horribly as was done in this series. I did purchase the next two series sets to see if anything gets better. I can hope they have some of the good humored snark and not the hateful sarcasm these provided. Over all, very disappointing.
This is my favorite Amanda Lee series. Not only Covenant College, but two follow-up trilogies about the same characters. As many times as I have read them, they still delight me. I read one review that said they are slow starting. That may be true if you are looking for supernatural events, but my delight in these stories is the brash, snark character of the protagonist, and that begins on the very first page.
Loved the series, as well as the follow ups. The books were great and the characters were all entertaining. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of all the changing info. Zoe starts her college journey with cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents when she calls her mom in the first book, then she doesn’t have any other family since her parents are four centuries old and ran away from their jobs as mages. Paris starts out with 10 siblings then it’s 8. Kelsie has blue eyes when we meet her and then they’re green. In the Brittany/Raphael bonfire, Will comes with Aric to save them and then it changes to him being part of the killing wolves. In Graduating they have Raphael glamour Brittany to remove her memories but when they go back in the next series they say it was Paris who did a spell with her mom. There’s a lot of others too and they were all distracting. Every time I read something that didn’t make sense I’d have to go back and check what it was originally because I couldn’t let it go. I loved the books but maybe the author and editors could read them too so they’re able to recall what she wrote.
Let me start by saying that I downloaded this set of e-books because I'm a fan of Lee's "Witches of the Midwest" series - mainly the dialog between the characters and the escapades they find themselves a part of. That said, I was hopeful that "Covenant College" would provide similar hours of entertainment and for the most part, the series did not disappoint. The clever comments and general snarkiness was missing though and I found myself wishing that Zoe's one-line zingers were more developed and not so predictable. I did notice a few small continuity issues in the series (Aric's pick-up gets changed for a different vehicle, one of the roommates that had stated could read auras was a mystery to Zoe later in the books) but nothing to lose sleep over. There were few, if any, of the typos that can seem commonplace when reading e-books so kudos to the editing team. Overall, the series was good but not as great as I would have hoped.
This was a series written superbly. The connections between the characters and each other and reader is real. The characters are believable, as is the story line. I was engrossed in this book from the beginning. The connection between two of the main characters, whom are dating is beyond love, it's truly beautiful, the kind of love that concurs all. I wish I could rate this higher than a 5. This book is like a magic carpet ride.
There is also three books out tell the story of after college 5 years into the future. It's mostly concentrated on the two main characters that were dating in the series. I haven't read them yet, I hope to see some familiar faces, and more of Raphael that very handsome brooding hunk of supernatural.
The characters are awesome and well thought out. I love Zoe (most of the time lol!) and I love the storylines.
However (and this is a big one)....I cannot give this series 5 stars because of how often the books contradict each other.
-one example when Zoe and Aric sit down with her parents to discuss her powers. Her mom said she'd been expecting this conversation over the past 3 years. But a page or two later, her dad says something about the trouble she'd been attracting over the past two years.-
If you fix ALL of the contradictions (and there are QUITE a few), I will change my review and bump my stars up to 5.
